Johan Hommes

Johan Hommes is a parliamentary and governance expert with over 25 years of international experience leading democracy and parliamentary development programmes with the OSCE, UNDP and the EU across Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and the Middle East. His work has focused on strengthening parliamentary institutions, legislative processes, political participation, civil society engagement, gender equality and youth participation, as well as parliamentary and external oversight of the security sector.

Before his international assignments, Mr. Hommes held senior positions in the Secretariat of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands, with extensive responsibility for parliamentary committees, legislative procedures, oversight and the budget. He has since led and advised complex, multi-country programmes, working closely with parliaments, governments, civil society and international partners.

His areas of expertise include parliamentary procedures and committee work, legislative and oversight processes, political parties, civil society development, women in politics and security sector oversight. Mr. Hommes holds a Master's degree in Constitutional Law.
